Nordic Walking

Nordic Walking

Join us for Nordic Walking at Morecambe Bay!

For two years, our group of enthusiastic Nordic walkers has been fortunate enough to explore the beautiful surroundings of Clowes Woods. Every Thursday night, summer or winter, come rain or shine, we can be found in this most beautiful of outdoor gyms, all thanks to Warwickshire Wildlife Trust. Join us at the end of September 2017 to show our appreciation with a sponsored Nordic walk.

On Saturday, September 30th,we will be Nordic walking eight miles across Morecambe Bay. This is no walk in the park! Nordic walking on sand is more tiring than on grass and you may get wet depending on the tidal conditions. We will however, be in the very capable hands of Cedric Robinson, MBE, Queen’s Guide to the Bay.

This will be a great opportunity to raise money for Warwickshire Wildlife Trust and a wonderful social occasion for local Nordic walkers. The walk may start and end on 30th September but we won’t. We will celebrate our walk on Saturday night and then on Sunday, there will be a guided Nordic walk and introduction to this beautiful and fascinating area. So, whether you are an experienced Nordic walker, a novice, or haven’t yet discovered this fantastic form of exercise, why not join us on this interesting weekend and raise some money for Warwickshire Wildlife Trust?

In the lead-up to the event, I will be offering taster sessions and courses for those new to Nordic walking. If your friends or partners would like to join us for the Bay walk but not Nordic walk it, they too would be welcome.

Unlike professional charity challenge companies, this is not a profit-led exercise. There will be a minimum sponsorship of £50 per person, all of which will be going to Warwickshire Wildlife Trust and participants will be expected to book and pay for their own rooms at the designated accommodation. To cover the non-refundable costs of our guides, minibus hire for the weekend and supplementary insurance, there will be a non-refundable deposit of £80 per person. Help us raise money and discover for yourself the health benefits of Nordic walking.
