Woodland Open Day
Join us for a celebration of all things woodland on Sunday 3rd November!
We will be hosting a FREE wild day out with activities taking place at both Bubbenhall Wood Nature Reserve (booking required) and additional drop in activities starting at nearby, Ryton Pools Country Park.
@ Bubbenhall Wood Nature Reserve - Practical woodland taster sessions
Join us at Bubbenhall Wood for practical taster sessions
11am - 1pm OR 1.30 - 3.30pm
These sessions are an informal introduction to woodland skills such as coppicing with hand tools. Due to the use of tools, these sessions are suitable for ages 7+. The sessions will be rounded off with the option to make your own bird feeder to take home with you. Our fantastic volunteers will be on hand to provide all the tools and the know how. Places on these sessions are limited so booking is essential. Click on the desired session below to book your tickets!

Please note there are no toilet facilities at Bubbenhall Wood, children/young people need to be accompanied by an adult and dogs are not permitted on session
@ Ryton Pools County Park - Charcoal demonstration and Guided walks
Over at Ryton Pools we will also have our charcoal retort burning all day and the chance to see how charcoal is made.
We will also have FREE guided walks starting at 11am and 1.30pm
Walks will start and end at Ryton Pools Country Park and take in Bubbenhall meadow, wood as well as a woodland skills demonstration by the local volunteers. Walks will last approximately 1.5-2 hours, open to all ages although please note will be over some uneven ground (tramper accessible). There is no need to book, just turn up. We are offering FREE car parking to those joining our walks so please collect your free parking permit from us at the Visitors Centre.
