Welches Meadow

A flood meadow on the south bank of the River Leam

This reserve is a flood meadow on the south bank of the River Leam, which is particularly valuable for butterflies and dragonflies.

Bounded by the meandering River Leam, Willes Road, housing and a reservoir this popular LNR feels surprisingly secluded.

The damp meadow has many wild flowers with yellowcresses, marsh bedstraw and silverweed all plentiful. The eastern marsh has reed sweet-grass and reed canary-grass intermingled with yellow iris, greater pond-sedge and wild angelica
