Big Wild Weekend and AGM 2019

To celebrate 30 Days Wild and some exciting news about our future plans in the local area, we are holding a nature filled day of inspiring activities and events on Saturday 15 June.  There is something for everyone and the day will be topped by our AGM and an inspiring talk by social media influencer and BBC Springwatch contributor Sophie Pavelle.

Throughout the day you are welcome to explore Brandon Marsh (normal admission applies) but there is the added bonus of free bookable sessions led by experts to help your wild knowledge grow. These events are open to members and non-members. Book your place on as many of these free sessions as you'd like to avoid disappointment. To book your place, simply click the time of the session you want to join.

 

Introduction to beetles and true bugs: Discover beetles and true bugs.  Led by our county expert, you will help survey and ID a diverse array of beetles and improve your skills.

1:30pm

 

Reptile survey and ID session: Want to know more about the reptiles that live in and around the area?  Join our expert on the walk who will share knowledge on the reptiles of Warwickshire.

10am          2pm

 

Botanical ID and Survey: Join the local flora group to discover the wildflowers and plants found locally. This walk will improve your floral ID and collect vital species information.

10am          1pm

 

Pollinators and Hedgerows: Do you want to learn about and take action for pollinators and hedgerows – two vital parts of our natural world?

Drop into the courtyard between 10:30am and 12:30pm

 

Animal Tracks and Signs: Become a wildlife detective and learn about the tracks and signs of wildlife.  Learn about the best signs for identifying wildlife through the things they leave behind.

11am          1pm

 

Summer Tree ID walk: Enjoy the dappled shade of summer trees on this walk and identify the different trees that call Piles Coppice home.

10am          12:30pm

 

Family Activities - Woodland games and activities: Come and have some nature-themed family fun on the reserve.  Enjoy wild play for all ages – young and old!

AGM and talk by Sophie Pavelle: We will be revealing some big news at 3pm and there will be signs on the day directing you to the event, before heading back to the courtyard at Brandon Marsh for light refreshments provided by Badgers Tea Room. The AGM will begin at 3:45pm. Following that, we will draw the raffle, before Sophie begins her talk, Nature in the Digital Age at 4:15pm. Book your place here

Please note: the AGM is for Warwickshire Wildlife Trust members only, if you are not a member please continue to enjoy the wider Brandon Marsh reserve until the talk start time, or learn more about becoming a member here.

Parking is at Brandon Marsh Nature Reserve, and it will be busy so please arrive with plenty of time and follow the marshal's directions. Do take care crossing any roads and dress for the weather as we will be outside for all sessions including the AGM!
