Since then, she has been working tirelessly in collaboration with other allotmenteers to make her dream come true. This is her inspirational story told in her own words:
In August 2024 I ventured into Aberdeen Road Allotments with a friend and was totally captivated by what I saw!
There was so much activity going on everywhere. I followed the vibrant colours and sweet aromas as I wandered around chatting to the gardeners.
When I reached the farthest corner under the large oak tree, I was told it used to be the wildlife corner. There was no colour. It looked quite unappealing to me, and I couldn't imagine any animals wanting to move in!
It seemed such a shame, that I volunteered to try and turn it back into a viable space for our local wildlife.
The first thing we decided was to clean and relocate the pond.
With a little help from Ian, Steve and Ralph (the dog). We created a multi-storey bug hotel.
