Midlands WILD Revival shortlisted for funding platform

Warwickshire Wildlife Trust's rewilding project shortlisted for a pioneering new national funding platform.

Warwickshire Wildlife Trust’s ‘Midlands WILD Revival’ project has been shortlisted to appear on the new ‘Projects for Nature’ online funding platform, launched at Defra’s COP 28 launch on 9th December.

The ‘Projects for Nature’ platform aims to give businesses the confidence and ability to support projects focused on nature’s recovery.  The platform offers potential donors the opportunity to learn more about each shortlisted project and allows them to donate and support the project(s) of their choice.

The Trust’s shortlisted project focuses on the river Blythe and the land that surrounds it, lying on the doorstep of over two million people. Rewilding this area will create a vibrant, thriving future for both nature and people and is an important way the Trust can demonstrate how taking local action can tackle global challenges.

The project ultimately aims to create a ‘Blythe safari’ type landscape where people could watch beavers swimming in our waterways or see barn owls and other rare birds flying overhead.

But it’s about more than that.

Economically, if this project receives the funding it needs, a rewilded river Blythe could become a magnet for tourism.  It’s a bold step towards tackling climate challenges and is also our responsibility in leaving a legacy for the future generations of Warwickshire.

The platform which features the Midlands WILD Revival project will hopefully attract the interest of likeminded businesses who share the Trust’s ambition to create riverbanks and ponds full of diverse wildlife, creating a haven for people to reconnect with nature in the heart of England.

The next six months will focus on fundraising and the project ultimately hopes to raise £1million from businesses so we can turn this vision of thriving nature into a reality.
