What is Nextdoor Nature?
The UK is one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world and research shows that 85% of people in nature-deprived areas say more natural spaces would improve their quality of life. We can’t reverse the trend alone; this is why we have adopted such a strong emphasis on community led action.
Nextdoor Nature fits in perfectly with our #TeamWilder ethos and will help people take meaningful action for nature in ways that matter to them. We are listening to people’s dreams, visions and ideas to identify new opportunities and possibilities, breakdown barriers and bring people together to take action that suits each of the communities we work with.
Imagine stepping out of your front door to the sound of birds singing, walking along streets full of wildflowers, hedges and trees and being surrounded by wildlife and nature. Creating a community garden that could provide space for nature as well as a safe place for your children to play, a place to connect with friends and neighbours or a place to grow and share locally grown food. The possibilities are limitless.
Here in Warwickshire, the project is initially working with the Attleborough community and will zoom out over the coming months to include the wider Nuneaton & Bedworth area. This hyper local approach is allowing us to delve deeper, listen to the communities ideas for nature recovery and empower them to make their vision a reality. Every one of us can make a difference to bring back nature and tackle climate change by taking small actions that add up to big changes!
Want to get involved?
You can make a huge difference to wildlife in your area and your actions will inspire others! You might want to re-wild your garden? Transform your local park or a barren patch of land in your local community? Or work with your neighbours to re-wild your street for both people and wildlife?
If you are already part of an active group and would like support getting more of your community involved in a re-wilding project, we can develop your skills to start bringing the community together and creating a plan of action. Or if you work in the area, maybe you want to reimagine or create a new space to work in or enjoy on your lunch hour? We can work with you and your workplace to make this happen.
If you live or work in or near Attleborough, Nuneaton and would like to get involved or want to tell us your ideas (BIG or small) then get in touch, we want to hear from you! You can tell us your idea via the form on the link below, give us a call, send us an email or upload a video, whatever way suits your needs. Our Action for Nature Officer Dan Loveard will be in touch within 2-4 weeks of submitting your idea to chat some more.
Alternatively, you may be keen to take action but not sure how or where to get started, we still want to hear from you!

Launched across the UK in May 2022, Nextdoor Nature is bringing communities together to help nature flourish where they live and work. Thanks to £5 million funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Nextdoor Nature will provide people with the advice and support they need to help nature on their doorstep and leave a lasting natural legacy marking The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
