Purpose of your role: From beginners, to birdwatchers, families to photographers, as a Guide in a Hide, you will give a warm welcome to all our visitors and encourage them to make the most of their visit to our hides. You will help them to identify the wildlife that they see and understand of how supporting our work helps protect these wonderful habitats for wildlife and for people to enjoy. 

 

Sparking enthusiasm in someone by showing them a bird they haven’t seen before, sharing interesting species facts, or teaching them how to distinguish between similar species is so rewarding and can make a real difference to that visitors experience. 

Tasks you will be involved with: 

· Being welcoming in the Wright Hide, helping point out to the visitors what wildlife they can see.

· Walking around the other hides talking to visitors and birdwatching.

· Updating the sightings board and informing the Visitor Experience Team of any exciting sightings.

· Keeping hides clean and tidy by litter picking and sweeping.

Skills and abilities required: 

· A knowledge of birds and wildlife, and a passion for sharing this knowledge with others.

· A keen interest in the work of the Trust.

· Good interpersonal and communication skills at all levels.

· Confidence and ability to work as part of a team, without direct supervision.

· An understanding of the importance of health & safety in a conservation environment.

You will be based at: Brandon Marsh Nature Centre, Coventry. CV3 3GW 

Days and time we would like you to be available: 1 day a week, can be a weekend, 2-4 hours, between the hours of 11am-3pm.
