Purpose of your role: Help people who join our weekly Plant and Potter group, for people with energy limiting conditions, to work safely and deliver small gardening and nature conservation tasks around Brandon Marsh Nature Centre. Working with the lead staff member you will lead on tasks, health and safety and nature information for the group.
Tasks you will be involved with:
· Helping staff to set up and tidy away kit for the sessions.
· Welcoming people and supporting them to feel comfortable and encouraging attendees who are nervous, anxious or overwhelmed.
· Leading the Plant and Potter group in their tasks, including reminding people of health and safety.
· Helping staff and other Lead Volunteers decide on the most appropriate weekly tasks.
Skills and Abilities required:
· A good understanding of the importance of health & safety and willingness to undertake a Volunteer leader course.
· Good interpersonal and communication skills at all levels.
· A knowledge of plants and wildlife, and a passion for sharing this knowledge with others.
· A keen interest in the work of the Trust.
· Confidence and ability to work as part of a team, with direct supervision from the lead staff member.
· A willingness to undertake leadership training and complete a basic DBS check.
You will be based at: Brandon Marsh Nature Centre, Brandon Lane, Coventry, CV3 3GW.
Days and time we would like you to be available: Tuesdays 11am - 1.00pm (2 hours)
