Wilder Organising supports local people to lead nature recovery
We listen, build relationships and connect neighbours so that local voices are heard, people feel they belong, and communities can shape change for nature where they live.
Why Wilder Organising?
At Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, we believe nature recovery should be fair, inclusive and led with communities. Social justice means ensuring everyone has the rights, opportunities and access to take part and a meaningful say in decisions about the land, water and wildlife that shape their lives.
Many people face barriers that can limit connection to nature, from poverty and discrimination to a lack of safe, welcoming local green space. When people are involved in caring for their local places, they value them, feel safer in them, and work to protect them (strengthening the sustainability of nature’s recovery).

That is why we are taking a community organising approach. We start by listening locally and building relationships. We help people connect, take action together and grow local leadership, so communities can influence change for nature and for people.
Conservation shouldn’t be something done to communities, but with them. By putting people at the heart of nature recovery, we’re working towards a future where both wildlife and communities can thrive.
Where are we organising?
Our Wilder Organisers are embedded locally in neighbourhoods, working alongside residents and supporting locally led action.
What is Wilder Organising?
Wilder Organising is about people coming together to shape the future of their communities - for nature, for each other, and for future generations. We help create the people-powered engine of the #TeamWilder movement by building relationships, skills and confidence at a local level to turn ideas into action.
Wilder Organising sparks a movement for change by unlocking the potential already present in your community.
How we work - Our Approach to Change
A Wilder Organiser listens to what matters most to local people and supports them to create change. We believe that those who live in a neighbourhood are the experts on it. By valuing local knowledge and lived experience, we empower residents to lead on their own ideas, connect with neighbours and grow those ideas into something bigger.
We don’t come in with preconceptions, pre-set plans, or ready-made answers, but we do bring practical tools and support. We believe that local people have the insight to solve local challenges. Our role to help unlock local potential and amplify community voice.
We:
- Build relationships and support ideas from the ground up
- Listen to what matters to you
- Strengthen and connect people, places and ideas
- Support communities to organise and take action
- Grow local leadership and build networks
- Amplify community voices in decision-making
- Recruit, train, and mentor volunteer organisers (this could be you!)
Wilder Organisers also work behind the scenes building trust with councils, organisations, schools and other local stakeholders to connect local voices to the places where decisions are made.
